Dietetics

A training course for teachers who work with young people with disabilities on a daily basis was held in Zaragoza from 19 to 23 October 2021. It was attended by partners from Poland, Greece, Spain, Italy and Turkey. The training covered a range of different issues related to communication with people with disabilities. The following thematic areas were covered during this training:

• Different communication models
• Alternative communication skills
• Creating games using sign language
• Communication involving visual and verbal interaction
• Interactive implementations in alternative communication
• Implementations of picture dictionary preparation
• Alternative methods to verbal communication: Sign language
• Alternative methods to verbal communication: Visual reading
• Alternative methods to verbal communication: Use of gestures and facial expressions, pantomime, drama
• Communication problems of people with mental disabilities
• Examples of good practice to enhance communication of people with intellectual disabilities
• Tools to improve verbal communication
• Other factors enhancing communication with people with mental disabilities: communication with the family and society
• National and international policies regarding communication of people with mental disabilities
• Examples of good practice in communication with people with mental disabilities
• Group work - Development of a new communication tool-method for experts or individuals.
