 Local sports events in Poland:

WSBINOZ realized in total 3 sports events in which over 50 participants have been involved. We decided to organize two sporting activities: Goalball and Nordic walking. Before starting both of the activities we implemented the safety rules, but also we presented the rules of each activity. The activities were organized in two different schools:

1. Specjalny Ośrodek Szkolno – Wychowawczy im. Kornela Makuszyńskiego w Zgierzu, ul. Parzęczewska 46., 95-100 Zgierz – the activities were done in October and November 2021 and were monitored by Agnieszka Kubiak. In total 30 youth aged 13-24, with light visual impairment and different disabilities participated.
2. Szkoła Podstawowa im. Ks. J. Twardowskiego w Dębowej Górze, 96-116 Dębowa Góra – the activity „School Tournament in Goalball” was supervised by Jolanta Świderek and Dorota Maria Mozga. The activities were carried out on 13th of June 2022 with the total number of 24 pupils aged 7-14, including 1 person visually impaired.

The events in above mentioned educational institutions were organized to promote the game of goalball as an effective means of rehabilitation for blind and partially sighted people. Nordic walking and goalball can be both used while working with visually impaired children, youth and adults:

• to increase the social inclusion of the visually impaired in society
• to develop agility and concentration in the game,
• to teach and learn tolerance and understanding towards visually impaired people,
• to improve the sense of hearing,
• to improve teamwork skills,
• to raise awareness of the problems of visually impaired and blind people,
• to promote educational and upbringing values of sport.
