Spoti project summary

With the last day of April we finish the 14-month project Spoti (Putting the "unheard gender" in spotlight, 2019-1-DE02-KA204-006446) initiated and coordinated by the German institution Gesellschaft für Inklusion und Soziale Arbeit.
The partnership was looking for best practices in the area of men's activation both in social, welfare and voluntary projects but also in undertaking education that was not focused on expanding only vocational skills.

Each of the participating institutions had a slightly different profile. Partners included socio-cultural organisations, organisations working with refugees or migrants and educational institutions on different levels. The approach of each partner to the topic and the different perspectives according to the cultural contexts and target groups they work with were therefore valuable.

The pandemic had a huge impact on the implementation and execution of most project activities.
Of the planned international partnership meetings, only the project kick-off meeting in Athens 2020 took place physically. The others took place online. All LTT activities planned in Portugal, Sicily and Germany were also transferred to virtual reality. This limited the possibility to be directly involved in the activities, but also had a positive aspect - additional team members in the respective institutions could participate.

During the LTT activity we had the opportunity to learn about the profile of the host institutions. Partners shared their experiences and presented developed practices - case studies. The partnership analysed the presented cases and discussed cultural contexts from a gender perspective.
The Academy of Business and Health Sciences developed and presented three good practice examples including:

Share The Care Foundation, an activity of the foundation that published the guide "50/50 it's worth it for everyone! The Role of Employers in Equalising the Right of Both Parents to Childcare" and works on a daily basis to promote the sharing of childcare within families;
Masculinum Foundation, the activities of the foundation dealing with the promotion of positive, new patterns of masculinity, supporting men in their activities for the good of the family, relationship, community, etc.
own practices in expanding educational offerings and activities promoting them for male students.
The project partners plan to continue the project, to develop new, even more extended examples and, for example, to create a guide to good practice in male activation.
