We are practicing life skills with LIKE project
The implementation of the LIKE project is in the testing phase of exercises designed for the development of the so-called "life skills".
Teachers in cooperation with parents conduct special classes devoted to the development of skills such as critical thinking, creativity, assertiveness, cooperation, entrepreneurship, conflict resolution, planning, etc. Classes are conducted based on the initial version of the project handbook. After the testing phase, the textbook will be finally modified to take into account the comments of all participating groups.
The LIKE project involves learning and developing so-called "life skills" in primary school children to avoid the phenomenon of Early School Leaving, i.e. leaving school and education prematurely. Factors that cause the abandonment of the education system are most often the result of poor results and learning difficulties seen frequently since early school years. They may also result from inadequate leisure time planning combined with limited involvement in school activities. In some cases they are related to the student's poor verbal skills.
The ability to continuous and independent lifelong learning is mentioned as a basic condition for social inclusion. This sets the school's task of providing students with the right intellectual tools, but also beliefs and self-regulation skills for the rest of their lives. Acquiring "life skills" is to help.
