SPOTi - Putting the "unheard gender" in spotlight
Name of the project: Putting the "unheard gender" in spotlight – Spot
Project identification number: 2019-1-DE02-KA204-006446
Program: Erasmus+ Strategic Partnership for adult education
Coordinator: Gesellschaft für Inklusion und Soziale Arbeit
Project duration: 01.11.2019 – 30.04.2021
Regular monitoring and different results of research on gender issues show that men are under-represented in all forms of learning (that are not directly connected with their work) and fewer men than women get involved in or benefit from the social projects, no matter what their age, ethnicities or social backgrounds is.
Although evidence has shown that there are subsisting barriers across all male groups, some groups of men appear to be even harder to reach than others. The evidence suggests that young men appear to be the hardest group to reach, followed by men from minority ethnicity backgrounds.
The resistance to consume offered services, to seeking help or to be engaged in social/volunteer projects shows undoubtedly an adverse impact on their well-being, their families and communities.
Objectives of the project:
- “browse” national and European good practices and related experiences, products (curriculums, tool boxes, learning materials, etc.);
- collect methodological information on how to develop more gender sensitive training programs, taking in special account:
- the gender stereotype related learning impediments for men;
- the democratic imperative to increase the inclusion of adults with social disadvantages;
- the innovative use of digital media in the training process - identify essential elements for the development an efficient inclusive and gender balanced training program tailored to the specific requests of two target groups:
- the board members and managing staff to strengthen organizational gender sensitivity;
- the adult education teachers, social workers and other practitioners themselves providing with the resources and information they need to strengthen gender awareness; - promote three short-term staff training (at least 4 participants from each implementing organisation) and stimulate staff development via learning from good practices;
- develop an exchange online exchange platform useful for internet based exchange and knowledge transfer;
- increase the capacities of the participant organisations and their staff members regarding language skills, intercultural competences and networking on international level.
